INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF FACULTY OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS

(former Faculty of Geoeconomics)

Faculty of International Economics has inherited a developed network of international cooperation established and nurtured in the previous period. Since its foundation, Faculty of Geoeconmics was one of the cornerstones of Megatrend University international cooperation.

It is well known that it was this faculty that initiated cooperation with University and Research Institute ‘Ortega y Gasset (IUIOG) from Madrid, Economic University from Bratislava (Faculty for National Economy and International Relations), Russian Academy of Science in Moscow (Institute for Europe and Insitute for Latin America), University of Pecs (Faculty for History and Faculty for Humanities – Centres for European, American, and Iberoamerican studies), University Primorska from Kopar (Faculty for Humanities – department for American Studies), Western University from Temisoara (Faculty for Economic Sciences), Free Medditerannean University – LUM Jean Monnet in Bari, Univerzitetom ‘Fernando Pesoa’ Univesity from Oporto (Department for Latin America), and others.

It is important to emphasize that withing the Faculty there is Canadian Center and Sector for Latin America and the Carribbean owing to which the faculty have realized a full membership in International Council for Canadian Studies (ICSS), in Yugoslav and Middle European Association for Canadian Studies (YACS i CEACS), i.e. European Council for social research of Latin America. (CEISAL).

One of the main goals of international cooperation of Faculty of International Economic is to enable our best students to continue their further postgraduate education at those foreign universities with which the Faculty has the agreement on cooperation. Five of our students received their master’s degree in Madrid so (IUIOG), on at Sorbona (Institute for Higher Studies of Latin America), one student currently at PhD studies in Madrid (IUIOG). Apart from that, since the beginning of 2010 two of our students have been at one-semester praksa in Mexico (at the prestigious Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey).

It is important to emphasize that our students are directly involved in international cooperation of the Faculty through their participation in international student workshops (five of them have been organized so far in cooperation with Primorska University from Kopar and one with University in Pecs so far), in international conferences on particular disciplines of regional studies (International conference of Canadian Studies, Scientific Forum CEISAL or The Forum of Young Researchers of Latin America), as well as other scientific, professional and cultural events that our Faculty organizes.

All activivties in this respect are carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Plan for international cooperation of Megatrend Unievrsity for the period 2008 – 2011.
